INGREDIENTS
- 4 c. Toasted Rolled Oats
- 1 c. Rice Krispies Cereal
- 2 c Pretzel Sticks broken into thirds or smaller (reserve 1/2 cup for topping)
- 1/2 c. Butter
- 1/2 c. Brown Sugar
- 1/2 c. Honey
- 1/2 c. Creamy Peanut Butter
- 1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 c. Chocolate Chunks (or Chips)
DIRECTIONS
- Place rolled oats, rice krispies cereal, & all but 1/2 cup of the broken pretzel pieces into a bowl.
- Heat butter, brown sugar, honey, & peanut butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Boil lightly for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, let cool slightly & stir in vanilla
- Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients & fold gently to coat all of the dry mixture.
- Press firmly into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan with either a wet spatula or dampened wet hands.
(the more firmly and longer you press, the less likely the bars are to fall apart!) - Sprinkle the top with chocolate chunks & reserved 1/2 cup of pretzel pieces & gently press into the granola bars
- Preheat oven to 350F and bake for 10-15 minutes. (keep an eye on them! Take them out when they're lightly browned)
- Immediately refrigerate for 30 minutes & cool completely before cutting into bars. Storage: Keep refrigerated.
