Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Brownie Bars


 Crunchy peanut butter rice krispy treat topping with a gooey marshmallow center topped off with a heavenly chocolatey fudge bottom. What could be better? 

Alternatively, you could replace the peanut butter with your favorite nut butter or even nutella! The best thing about this recipe is that it's completely adaptable to any preference and sweet toothed taste!

Ingredients

For the brownies
1 9x13 inch pan of brownies (box mix or homemade recipe below)


Homemade Brownies:

2 sticks of butter 
2 1/4 cups of sugar 
4 large eggs 
1 tablespoon vanilla 
1 1/4 cups of cocoa powder 
1/2 teaspoon salt 
1 teaspoon baking powder 
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour


For the Krispie Mallow Layer
1 bag mini marshmallows
2 cups chocolate chips
1 1/4 cups peanut butter (or nutella or preferred nut butter)
5 tablespoons butter
3 cups Rice Krispies 

Instructions

Prepare your brownies. 


Instructions for homemade brownies
1. Grease a 9x13 pan & preheat the oven to 350º. 
2. Mix together the butter and sugar in a microwave safe bowl. Heat in the microwave, stirring about every 30 seconds, until the mixture is smooth, let cool slightly.
3. Add in the eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth. 
4. Mix together the cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and flour and add to the butter mixture, mixing until smooth, don't overbeat
5. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake for about 20 minutes.
6. Pour the marshmallows over the top and continue baking for about 8-10 minutes until they're golden brown. Let cool while you prepare the topping.


Instructions for Krispie Mallow Layer
1. For the topping, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a microwave safe dish. Microwave thirty seconds at a time, stirring at each interval, until smooth and melted. 
2. Fold in the Rice Krispies and then pour over the brownies.
