Yield: 1.5 dozen candies

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup whole raw hazelnuts  (separate out 36 good looking whole nuts for the centers)
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1/4 cup crushed hazelnut wafer cookies
  • 1/2 cup (about 90 grams) chocolate: dark or milk
(preferably not chocolate chips, use a nice bar chocolate)

DIRECTIONS

1. In a food processor blend the hazelnuts finely, but be careful not to process them into a paste. (about 30 sec)

2. Repeat with wafers.

3. Combine half of the chopped hazelnuts with the Nutella and mix well. (Refrigerate for 1 hr)

4. Combine the rest of the nuts with the chopped wafers.

5. Prep a baking sheet or tray that can fit in your freezer by lining it with parchment paper or foil.

6. Scoop out small balls of the Nutella mixture and push a whole hazelnut into the center of each one.

7. Roll the balls in the wafer/nut mixture and place on the tray. Freeze until firm - another hour.

8. Melt the chocolate in the microwave safe bowl in the microwave.

9. Using a toothpick or a plastic fork with the middle tines snapped off, dip the balls in the melted chocolate.

10. Repeat with the remaining balls and transfer to the fridge to set completely.

11. When chocolate has completely set, store in an air tight container in the fridge...or devour all of them like I did! ^_^
