Coconut Chocolate Praline Bars


These gooey, melt in your mouth delicious bars are the perfect blend of chocolate, nuts, and coconut.

INGREDIENTS


For the bars
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
For the topping 
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • Shredded coconut (enough to make topping ingredients sticky)


DIRECTIONS
For the bars
1. Preheat oven to 350º. Grease a 9-inch x 13-inch pan. 
2. Melt butter in mircowave in 30 second intervals
3. Add buttermilk, brown sugar, and eggs. 
4. In separate bowl, mix flour, cocoa, and baking soda. 
5. Add to buttermilk mixture, and stir to combine
6. Add vanilla.
7. Pour into prepared baking dish. 
8. Bake for 30 minutes. Take out of oven and prepare topping.

For the toppping
1. In small saucepan, combine milk, butter, brown sugar, pecans, and coconut for the icing. 
2. Place saucepan over medium heat, and cook until almost boiling, stirring frequently. 
3. Immediately pour over cooked bars, and return to oven. 
4. Continue baking until top is bubbly, watching to prevent scorching. 
5. Cool slightly; cut into squares.
