INGREDIENTS
For the breadsticks
2 tbs honey
1 and 1/2 c. warm water (110-120 deg)
2 1/4 tsp yeast (1 packet)
4 1/2 c. bread flour
1 tbs of salt
2 tbs unsalted butter
For the breadstick topping
6 tbs of butter
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
For the garlic dip
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese (softened)
One large garlic clove (finely minced)
Salt & pepper (to taste)
2-4 tbs of whole milk
DIRECTIONS
For the breadsticks
1. Mix together 2 tbs of honey, 1 and 1/2 cups of warm water, 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) yeast in a bowl.
2. In a separate bowl, mix 4 1/2 c of flour and a tbs of salt.
3. Pour flour/salt mixture into yeast/water/honey mixture and set aside.
4. Melt 2 tbs of unsalted butter in microwave or in a small saucepan over medium heat.
5. Pour melted butter into flour mixture & mix until a smooth dough has formed and it pulls cleanly from the sides of the mixing bowl.
6. Form a rough rectangular dough and cut into desired sizes: 12-18 sections(depending on how large you want your breadsticks to be)
7. Roll each dough into long breadstick forms.
8. Cover with a damp towel and let them rise in a warm spot for an hour.
For the breadstick topping
1. Melt 6 tbs of butter.
2. Add a tsp of each: salt, garlic powder..
3. Stir together and use a pastry brush to spread the buttery mixture over breadsticks.
4. Bake breadsticks in oven for 6 minutes at 400 degrees F.
5. Brush with more of the breadstick topping.
6. Bake for another 6-8 mins until golden brown.
7. Brush one last time when they just come out of the oven.
For the garlic dip
1. Mix minced garlic and 8 oz. cream cheese block till smooth.
2. Add a couple tbs of whole milk and mix. Continue this until it is at a consistency you like.
3. Sprinkle in pepper & salt to taste.
4. Mix thoroughly & set aside.
