I N G R E D I E N T S
1 egg
1/4 c. sugar
1 c. warm milk
1 Tbsp dry yeast
1 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 - 3 1/2 cups flour
1 stick slightly melted butter
Nutella, jam, or nut butter
Powdered sugar
1 egg beaten for egg wash
D I R E C T I O N S
1. Beat the egg with the sugar.
2. Add in the milk, yeast, salt and vanilla.
3. Add 2 cups of flour and then the butter and beat until smooth.
4. Add in another 1/2 c. of the flour. It should be soft and moist but not sticky. If it's too sticky, add more flour.
5. Cover the bowl with a moist towel and let it rise for an hour.
6. Roll the dough out cut into rounds.
7. Place the rounds onto a lined baking sheet and let them rise until they are double their size.
8. Lightly brush the top of the rounds with egg wash.
9. Bake them for 10-12 minutes at about 390 F (200 C).
10. When the donuts are cool enough to handle, use a chopstick and poke a hole through the center of the donut and wiggle it around a little when you feel as if you've reached the middle of the donut.
11. Fill donut with nutella or any desired jam/nut butter using a pastry piping bag or a cut ziploc baggie.
12. Lightly dust donuts with powdered sugar
